Upper School

Developing Leadership:

On entering the upper school in year 10. Students make the subject choices for their two year IGCSE course.

Most pupils choose eight or nine subjects including mathematics, English language and French as a foreign language. Students will also have a choice to take WAEC examination if they choose.

Teaching staff is aware of the importance of maintaining a flexible balance between prescribed workloads and students capability to manage them.

They maintain a flexible approach to student’s individual needs, ability and the workload that will help to produce results which everyone can be proud of.

A comprehensive careers advice service is in place to enable students and parents to make informed decisions about sixth form and universities courses.

In addition, students are exposed to a wide range of co-curricular activities- sports, excursions, filed trips, clubs, community service which offer opportunities for their leadership skills to be honed.

Curriculum

Most students choose eight to nine subjects of which mathematics, English and French language are compulsory. They are also assisted to complete their choice of other additional subjects.

Choosing one at least one each from five subject groups. Successful studying of these subjects will lead to the International certificate Award (ICE) from the Cambridge International Examination. Students sit for the International General Certificate secondary Education (IGCSE).

Students can also take the WAEC examination if they choose. Students who are boarders benefits from the unique combination of opportunity, structure and care which a boarding education offers.

Other subjects offered are Accounting, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Art and Design, Further mathematics, Geography, History, Information and communication Technology, Literature, Music, Physical Education, Physics and Chemistry.

Students on completing their IGCSE or WAEC move to year 12 for the senior secondary certificate examination for they transit to our sixth form offering A’level – International degree foundation programme (for UK universities), International Medical foundation programme (for Hungarian medical universities) or International foundation year for entry into Canadian Univerisites.
